Not Quite Bad Enough
Started out in true KA fashion, BA hero being mysterious and hot. Then I’m just not sure what the heck happened. A lot of nothing is what it seemed like. No drama, no showing of his BA skills, but he had no problem calling him self a BA. The book is all about Cassie and Deacon falling in love and trusting but it wasn’t what you come to expect from KA. I believe Deacon lost man points for his little stunt at the end. The intimate scenes in the book are HOT. I will give it that. But this isn’t the writing I fell in love with from KA. Ever since she got published the books haven’t been the same.
A perfect end of summer read that will take you to the Colorado Mountains
First, I need to say that Kristen Ashley is one of my all time favorite authors. Truly she is. Her books always leave me feeling as if I’ve just plunged into a warm pool at the end of a long summer day: soothed, relaxed, happy and sated. Few can do that. I mean, how many times do you close a book and think “What the heck was that?” I know what I am going to get when I start a KA novel: women that are strong, courageous and self sufficient; Alpha males that will be honest, caring, strong, and good in the sack. (winky face)
Deacon is no different. It’s about a young woman with goals and ambitions and all she wants is to share it with the guy she loves. That’s until she realizes he really doesn’t love her or her life plan the way that she thought he had. Amongst all this, a stranger shows up and keeps showing up for years. You see, she runs a vacation spot consisting of remote cabins. It’s quiet, peaceful, and just what Deacon needs.
If you are a KA reader, you’ve had brushes with Deacon before. The cold, dead eyed ghost of a man really needs to have a place to go when he has down time. For whatever reason, this is the place he keeps coming back to. It takes one Christmas Eve to change things and years later to figure out that that change is exactly what he needs.
I really don’t want to spoil it for you. Jump in the warm water and find out for yourself if a ghost can be resurrected.
A perfect end of summer read that will take you to the Colorado Mountains.
I was disappointed by this book
I was disappointed by this book. The beginning was great, but then it lost it’s mojo. I thought KA’s reason for Deacon being so damaged was a little undramatic. I also enjoy dirty talk in my books, but while this book has plenty it was often repetitive. I am still a KA fan, but I am ready for some more Fantasyland books.

Another absorbing nd heart wrenching story
One of the great strengths of Victoria Hislop’s writing is her ability to create a strong sense of time and place; the reader is drawn immediately into the setting. Her latest novel, The Sunrise, is no exception. This time, we visit 1970’s Cyprus. It’s a time of growth as tourism dominates and coastal resorts are booming. There are fortunes to be made and long standing differences are put aside as Greeks and Turks work alongside each other. The Sunrise of the title is a newly opened high end hotel on the Famagusta shoreline. Glitzy and opulent, it encapsulates the capitalist dreams of many. But the glittering success is in stark contrast to what is to follow. Fast forward a few months; there’s a Greek coup, a Turkish invasion and 40,000 flee the city. Famagusta is deserted apart from a couple of families.
The historical setting is meticulously researched; it’s a captivating framework for a well imagined story set around the people left behind after the invasion. It’s a moving and sympathetic exploration of family secrets and betrayal. The devastation caused by the conflict is unbelievable and so different to the booming success a few months before.
I enjoyed the story, background and characters and had a strong sense of many of the losses suffered. Another engaging, exciting and brilliantly executed read. My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

A Superior Book
This is an extremely effective and eye-opening book, especially for Americans. I say «especially for Americans» because Klein, a Canadian, uses many Canadian examples that really add something new to the debate on climate change. Alberta and British Columbia (Canadian provinces) are basically ground zero: Alberta has huge tar sands and British Columbia has huge indigenous resistance. I found this very fascinating. Klein’s main point is that, in order to solve climate change, we need to get rid of capitalism. She describes how mass coordinated resistance to the global economic system is necessary. I highly recommend this book, which is very intelligent and readable. However, it won’t convince you if you are already a non-believer in climate change or a staunch capitalist.
An Important Book!
Wow! I have been waiting so long for someone to actually say these things. Truly fantastic book. Challenging throughout a true must read if you are interested in this subject and climate denier response…who no doubt will be popping in their negative reviews even though they will never read the book…..please ignore them. This is a great book

I am not surprised by her clear writing and masterful grasp of all this profound shift on how we look at this convergence of factors: economic, social and above all else natural. As Guy Mcpherson says: nature bats last.

Not the Expected Type of Read – So Much Better!
Wow…just wow!
For those of you who want to condemn this book based solely on what you THINK this book is about – STOP! It is not some weird bashing of the church filled with sex scenes.
This book IS an emotional roller coaster. One you will definitely get off at the end with your head spinning and your heart overjoyed.
Sometimes you pick up a book expecting one thing and it turns out to be a completely different experience. This is that type of book and one that truly blind-sided me.
Enjoy reading. That’s all I want to say without giving any spoilers and I hope that you don’t read any reviews that give spoilers because I really want you to enjoy this book as I did. I went in thinking it was a simple romance story and what I received was a completely different way to look at what I read.

When I first read the blurb for this, I was like, forbidden love? Yes! Controversy? Hell Yes! Where do I sign up? I devoured this incredible read in one sitting. It was just that good. It’s everything a fantastic book should be. It’s thought provoking, it makes you feel so many emotions at once you don’t know which way is up. And then you’ll hit a twist that will make you question everything you thought you knew. The way the author weaves this story together is just incredible. It’s EPIC & COMPLETELY MIND BLOWING! AH-MAA-ZING
What do I think? Well I’m currently unable to think, because my mind is in tiny bits since it’s been blown away. With the Father is so different than anything I’ve read in a LONG time. It’s one of those stories that sets a clear stage and reels you in so that you feel like you are there. Right next to the characters as everything unfolds. Jenni’s writing is beautiful, and the story itself is just incredible. I miss it already. And the ending? Well, all I can say is read it and be prepared to have your emotions totally worked over.

What a great book! I always wanted to know how to …
What a great book! I always wanted to know how to program an iPhone app – turns out it is easier than I thought. At least a basic program that is. If you are newer to programming (like me) the book wont be enough information to create the next «angry birds» app, but it walks you through the process to develop a basic app and provides a strong foundation for more complex apps. I now believe I can write programs!
I am not sure if Swift is just an easier language to learn than others I have tried or that this book is just better at teaching the concepts, but something clicked. It isn’t just a list of functions and how to use them, the book teaches the whole concept of programming while using the Swift programming language. Each chapter begins with describing what you will learn and how the info fits into the big picture. It finishes with a self test that reinforces what you just learned and indicates whether you understood the concepts. They also have «lab exercises.» I strongly suggest you don’t blow these off. They have you write code and see your program work as you learn each new concept. This cements what you learned with a «hands on» process. I was able to see the big picture as well as learn a ton of detailed concepts. I am now hungry to learn more. I gotta say, I am excited about the possibilities.
From beginner to excited amatuer
WOW!! This is great! Finally a book about programming that doesn’t read like a tech manual. I learned more in the first 150 pages, than I have watching video tutorials in the past few months.
Want to be an IOS 8 apps Maker?
Most Book won’t explain in detail the meaning of every word in programming language, but Mark take the time to include every explanation of the programming word, I am a beginner, so sometimes I need to understand what the word function is before I can remember them. The book is explained in a really good steps, that will make you «Aha!» every time. I sincerely recommend the book for everyone who wants to learn how to program in IOS8

Old Fashioned Romance With Christmas As A Bonus!
Stephanie Laurens delivers a wonderful Christmas tale that is pure romance at it’s best. I do so love it when I find a book that the author has taken care not to make it about sex but more about the wonderful aspects of what a wonderfully sweet romance holds for all of us.
The Cynster family has all come together at the manor for the Christmas Holidays and oh what a family it is. With multiple generations and all of which treat each other with love and respect, we welcome in Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with giggles, blessings, old traditions as well as new, lots of food and cheer and not to be left out but a possible romance or two perhaps.
I have to say I just love it when the kids are trying to pull one over on the adults only to find out later that the elders of the group are much wiser and see a whole lot more than they let on. Not only that but the elder generation is just as sneaky and willing to pull shenaigans as the younger generation. One said budding romance is between a tutor and a governess and I don’t know that the two will stand a chance of not falling deeply for each other with all the help they will be getting to get them together. It really is comical and quite sweet.
I will be saving this to read again at Christmas as I do so love a good Christmas romance for the holiday. I highly recommend this one for all of you who love true old fashioned romances of yester year as well as a good Christmas tale of life anew, blooming love and sweet tender tales of all the good that should be in this world. This is a stand alone novel so go ahead and splurge on yourself.
A touch of magic
There are quite a few books in the Cynster series, but this is a stand-alone book. It is a regency romance that is timeless. It very well could take place today.
It is Christmas and the large family has come together in the sizeable Scottish manor. This is a loving family, with as one begins to read, some slight hint of divergence from the norm. First we have some of the names; Devil, Raven, Scandal and Lucifer. It isn’t until the middle of the book that the mystery of the Lady and hints that are not fully explained of a power and mystical gift that a few have that provides knowledge and a protection is given. Perhaps this is dealt with more fully and clearly in other books; but for now, in this one it adds a mystery and really takes nothing away from understanding.
The whole family is charming and loving and responsible. The love interest is between 2 tutors – Daniel and Claire who is a widow who does not wish to remarry. Can either of them find happiness?
There is a helpful list and explanation of the characters in the front of the book, this is most welcomed.
There is something so comforting about reading Christmas stories and this has much to entertain you…a loving family, a hope for love- a wealthy family who reaches out to those in need and trouble around them. It is an appropriate Christmas lesson and tale.
