If you like roman legions a battle between Romans and Barbarians this is one for you.
Bit disappointed in this one
Bit disappointed in this one. Lacked the intrigue and humour of previous books. Not bad is all.
I can give it.

DESCRIPCIÓN Y/O SINOPSIS DE ESTE EBOOK
This enhanced digital edition of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep south includes audio of Sissy Spacek performing the audiobook and video footage from the documentary Hey Boo: Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird which includes Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brokaw, Anna Quindlen, Wally Lamb, Alice Finch Lee and others discussing Harper Lee and the book, excerpts from Harper Lee’s final radio interview, and footage from the film.
One of the best-loved stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than thirty million copies worldwide, served as the basis for an enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father-a crusading local lawyer-risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime.

Move over Jake Brigance, here comes Samantha Kofer!
In nineteen ninety-three, John Grisham delivers a stunning and suspenseful novel, The Pelican Brief, which revolves around the assassination of two Supreme Court justices, and the female protagonist Darby Shaw undeterred by the threats to her life uncovered a deep-rooted presidential conspiracy. Twenty-one years later, Grisham returns with a female protagonist for only the second time in his illustrious career as he crafted another stupefying legal thriller, this time not targeting the highest echelons of government but the deepest pits of the dark and perilous world of coal mining.
Set against the backdrop of the Great Recession of 2008, Gray Mountain by bestselling author John Grisham follows a 29-year-old female Manhattan associate attorney who gets downsized and is forced to leave her Wall Street law firm two weeks after the collapse of Lehman Brothers to work a year in the small-town of Brady, Virginia. Samantha Kofer’s journey from New York’s largest law firm to a small legal aid clinic in the heart of Appalachia with a population of 2200 as an unpaid intern borders on the ludicrous. Yet, that is the only possible route back to her job in the future.
When Samantha meets Mattie Wyatt, her new boss and the head of the Mountain Legal Aid Clinic, she realizes there’s much to learn and that Mattie has a lot to teach her on how to assist people who face genuine problems. It enables her to work on things she had never done during her three-year stay at New York’s Scully & Pershing. Apart from actually preparing a lawsuit, Samantha also gets to work her way around courtrooms, topping it with a tongue-lashing from a judge. Samantha’s work forces her to get deeper into the problems of her clients Taking up cudgels on their behalf, she begins her own investigation to get to the bottom of their stories without ever realizing that in coal country searching for the truth and standing up for it means putting your life on the line. She also stumbles upon secrets that should have remained buried deep in the mountains forever, and the connection between small-town politics and Big Coal. But Samantha is not discouraged by the numerous threats that she received and is taking the fight into the enemy’s camp.
Author John Grisham paints a dark picture of the coal mining industry, the danger it posed to environment and the lives of people. He is scathing in his portrayal of the people involved and how far they are willing to go to have their way, even to the extent of murdering and poisoning streams and wells. Though a dazzling legal thriller, full of suspense and action with its plot twists and surprises, Gray Mountain is primarily an issued-based novel that takes up the cause of defenseless people and the environmental hazard coal mining has brought about by ripping off the tops of hundreds of mountains in Appalachia. It has not only poisoned the ecosystem but is instrumental in the rapidly vanishing wildlife and threatens the very survival of human beings living around coal mining areas. Grisham is as brilliant as ever but the central premise of the story may not appeal to some readers.
Another Grisham classic, weaving suspense and intrigue in a legal thriller
In classic Grisham style, the reader is brought into the world of a naive yet resourceful young lawyer who begins to uncover the generations of secrets which want to remain buried. Gray Mountain follows Samantha, a third year associate at New York’s largest law firm, who loses her job two weeks after the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
Within a week, Samantha is out of New York and has become an unpaid intern in a legal aid clinic in small town Appalachia, where for the first time she deals with real clients with real problems; those real problems start uncovering a sinister world of big coal, with its impacts on the environment, the health of its miners, but, as the only real industry in town, with an overbearing influence on a community and its people. Her character’s intelligence and resourcefulness leads her deeper into this world, and, in the vein of many Grisham novels, leads her into deeper and deeper peril.
That a «big law» lawyer could end up in such a situation is spot on. Right during the big crash the economy could not even come close to bearing the quantity of lawyers who flooded the market during that time. I know quite a few young lawyers who were left utterly disappointed with the «big law» world and, post crash, ended up in public service. In fact, numerous big law firms actually helped place their underutilized associates in non-profit and legal aid positions to give them the «real world» experience with the hope that hey might be able to rehire them. That a highly intelligent, resourceful, and driven young woman could end up in deep Appalachia is not as far-fetched as one would think.
Gray Mountain has all of the characteristics of a Grisham classic with its pacing, twists, and turns. The novel does not disappoint. It is a genre that has worked well for Grisham, and is shows true here.

DESCRIPCIÓN Y/O SINOPSIS DE ESTE EBOOK
She’s a spoiled shopaholic with daddy issues. He’s a socially conscious vegetarian who doesn’t hide his disdain for people who come from the trappings of wealth. Of course, none of that would have mattered if Chloe could have just left her summer fling with Chase behind her without a glance back—something that will prove impossible when the consequences of that fling rear their head. Particularly one consequence; one with ten fingers, ten toes, and the potential to turn Chloe’s privileged life upside down.
But deciding what to do about her unexpected pregnancy is only one of Chloe’s problems. When Chase moves in across the hall, pretending that their one night together didn’t mean anything will be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. Especially when that night meant more to her than she’d ever want to admit out loud. Chase is determined to make her see that they could be so much more than a mindless fling; and a girl who’s used to getting her way will find Chase’s determination hard to resist when love is at stake.

Great addition to the series!
The second book in Sharing Spaces is a great continuation from the first, V-Card. The author tackles a touchy subject: unwanted pregnancy, and does it with class.
Chloe is a spoiled, rich brat, who frankly, I felt a bit sorry for, regardless of her hard exterior. Below that is just a girl who craves the love her parents never gave her. It’s hard to imagine that she finds her match in Chase, a tree-hugging earthy type. There couldn’t be two different people in the world, yet, they work well together.
Without giving anything away, I will say the chemistry between the two is super-cute and fun as they bumble their way through an unexpected pregnancy.
We also get a glimpse into the next Sharing Spaces book, as each of these room mates tries to find their place in life as they go through their own personal trials and tribulations. Thankfully, they all have each other.
The Sharing Spaces series is a wonderful and funny glimpse into the college life of room mates, and I can’t wait for more.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Brat is a GREAT read!
I absolutely LOVED Brat! It was so much different than ant other romances and yet it was so perfectly loving! I do not recall ever having read a book with this story line before. There were so many different possibilities involved with the storyline and that really allowed for many varying reactions from the others involved. It let you see the feelings involved from all concerned instead of just from the main characters points of view. I felt like the author did an exceptional job of portraying all angles and getting their feeling across very well. I know this is all rather vague, but I do not want to let out any spoilers! It is so worth it to let the book unfold just the way the author wrote it.
I also liked the mystery surrounding one of the other people sharing the space. Another story line I have never read about before. Can’t wait for the 3rd book.
This is by far my favorite book by Alicia Michaels, and I cannot encourage you enough to read it now, as you will not be disappointed!!

Captivating
Lee Child’s “Personal” is a well written with a gripping plot, an amazing characterization, an absorbing setting and well constructed dialogue. The story captured my full attention right from the early chapters and did not dampen my curiosity all the way to the end. This is suspense full and fast-paced novel occupies a place on my shelf with other books like Of Life War and Peace, The Da Vinci Code, and Fifty Shades of Grey.
Lee Child. Personal
I have been a Lee Child fan for some time, I have all his Reacher series on Kindle,
In between reading other books/novels, I will quite happily select one of these to read again, and this now includes
this latest.
