To Dwell in Darkness de Deborah Crombie

DESCRIPCIÓN Y/O SINOPSIS DE ESTE EBOOK

In the tradition of Elizabeth George, Louise Penny, and P. D. James, New York Times bestselling author Deborah Crombie delivers a powerful tale of intrigue, betrayal, and lies that will plunge married London detectives Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James into the unspeakable darkness that lies at the heart of murder.

Recently transferred to the London borough of Camden from Scotland Yard headquarters, Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and his new murder investigation team are called to a deadly bombing at historic St. Pancras Station. By fortunate coincidence, Melody Talbot, Gemma’s trusted colleague, witnesses the explosion. The victim was taking part in an organized protest, yet the other group members swear the young man only meant to set off a smoke bomb. As Kincaid begins to gather the facts, he finds every piece of the puzzle yields an unexpected pattern, including the disappearance of a mysterious bystander.

The bombing isn’t the only mystery troubling Kincaid. He’s still questioning the reasons behind his transfer, and when his former boss—who’s been avoiding him—is attacked, those suspicions deepen. With the help of his former sergeant, Doug Cullen, Melody Talbot, and Gemma, Kincaid begins to untangle the truth. But what he discovers will leave him questioning his belief in the job that has shaped his life and his values—and remind him just how vulnerable his precious family is.

OPINIONES:

Deborah Crombie knows how to skillfully balance the personal and professional lives of her characters
I’m so lucky to have read TO DWELL IN DARKNESS, the 16th in the series before the September 23, 2014 publishing date. Crombie has perfected the balance of the police business and mystery side of the story along with the domestic life of her officers and their loved ones. Through this book as with the others, we not only come to know about Gemma James and Duncan Kincaid and their circle, we come to care deeply about them. As usual I never like to give away any spoilers about the book. It’s a wonderful read. And if you haven’t even started the series yet, you have a lot of wonderful storytelling ahead of you.

Crombie’s books just keep getting better
Duncan and Gemma’s family seems to grow bigger in each book. In the meantime, their jobs also get more complicated. and managing work and family are difficut enough without having one or more murders to solve. I love Crombie’s group of characters and am sad to come to the end of the book, especially since there are more more mysteries left to ponder in a future book.

Five Big Stars!
What a pleasure to read such a great follow up to THE SOUND OF BROKEN GLASS. Deborah Crombie never disappoints, and this time she has hit it out of the park. It is so good to be back in London with Gemma and Duncan and all the rest of our old friends!
